Click on the link to find out about Ancient Greek Artifacts.I am wondering if you have ever heard of the magical, magnificent and frankly rather peculiar Mr Willy Wonka? Elegantly, he walks like a model down the red carpet, he takes of his bottle green hat and throws it to the excited crowd. Merrily, his eyes beam like the stars, if anyone dares to look in his eyes they would probably be blinded. Like a gymnast, he cartwheels down the gold boarded carpet, his eyes shine brightly as he sees the crowds delight. Mr Willy Wonka is an amazing and creative chocolatier however nobody knows how he does it.

Dear Farmer,
I am writing hoping to persuade you that Gophers are all heros and help to keep your farm. In my opinion Gophers are hero's and should be kept. In the first place Gophers help to make the ground fertile by mixing soil and adding in nutrients. I am sure you will agree that this is beneficial for your farm. It is vital that you know, although Gophers take some of your crops, you will produce much better crops when the Gophers help to make your soil fertile. Do you want to have the best crops in the area? Then please keep the Gophers and allow them to help you with your job. Secondly, I know that people think Gophers eat all the farmers vegetables. However when a Gopher digs, they provide more space for the roots, therefore you will actually be able to grow more crops. Clearly, Gophers help you to grow more crops and without them you would not have as much. To conclude, I hope you can see Gophers are heroes and help you with your farming. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, please consider my points. Yours Sincerely Mrs Zhao During reading response we read a wide range of texts. We look at fiction and non-fiction. Today we are looking at a fun poem. Click the link to hear the great performance by Brian Moses.
This week we have started to learn about fractions. We learnt about the numerator and denominator. To help us remember we watched the video below. Use this to help you too! 24th August 79ADDear Diary,
It started as a normal and ordinary day. I woke up and opened my curtains to see the great and gentle protector, Mount Vesuvias. The sun was beaming happily down the mountain and the grass looked greener than ever before. Happily and cheerfully, I skipped downstairs for my breakfast. I could smell the freshly baked bread and hear beautiful birds tweeting, loud dogs barking and my mother singing joyfully in the kitchen. Excited, I couldn't wait to see my friends at school. A little while later, something started to happen. As loud as a lions roar, the ground made an almighty rumble. Terrified, I fell onto the chiseled pavement however in a few seconds the sound stop and the ground was still again. Although I still felt scared, I carried on walking to school. I decided it was nothing to worry about, as soon everyone was laughing and chatting as normal. As soon as I arrived at school, the ground began to shake like a wobbling bowl of jelly. Terrified, I dived under the table. I could see thick ash covering the sky, it was like night was coming early. Anxious, petrified, afraid - I ran quickly, dodging tiles crashing to the ground. Pompeii had begun to crumble before my eyes. Purposefully and frantically I grabbed my friends to try and find safety. I could not believe that this gentle protector was betraying us! It felt like hours until there was quiet again. Slowly, we peeked out of the boat. All the buildings which once stood tall were now submerged under the thick, dark ash and boiling, deadly lava. Before, I could hear dogs barking madly, babies wailing and people shouting, but now there was a deafening silence. The city which was once full of life was now buried beneath deadly, molten rock. Today was a day I could never forget, the day our great protector betrayed us in the worst way imaginable. This week we have begun looking at 'Escape from Pompeii' and learning about the disaster when the volcano erupted. We are going to be writing a diary entry as if we were there. To help us understand what is was like we had experience of what a earthquake would be like, when we walked in out classroom it was TRASHED! We also watched the video below and explored sounds and feelings. This week we have been writing poems. As part of our reading response the children had the opportunity to learn verses of by heart and recite them to the class. Listen to them below.
